Skincare- Winter Favs ..........
It's that time of year again. The time of year in the UK when your skin can feel like it suffers, with sometimes mixed up weather and a change of season. Also all that wine at Christmas followed by a well meaning detox can lead to the skin needing a bit of tlc.
Here are our winter skincare favorites (from left to right):
1. Dermolgica Ultra-Calming Cleanser (£26.30)
The magic is in it's name it's a cleanser that is gentle but capable. Many of our make-up artists carry this as a staple in their kits. It's kind to the skin and contains no fragrance.
2.Embryolisse Lait Concentrate (£13)
This is also a staple item in many a make-up artist's bag. We used to have to go to great length to get this cream as it's a French product but now Space NK stocks it. It is super moisturizing and can also be used as a cleanser.This is used alot during London Fashion Week to keep the models looking fresh when their skin may be tired from all the shows.
3. Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream (£24)
We have included two moisturizers as keeping your skin moisturized in the winter is such an important step in keeping your make-up looking good.This is a great moisturizer. It's rich an really effective in dealing with dry patches an balancing it all out.
This is by far our make-up artist's top pick for lipbalm. It's moisturizing and deals with soften rough chapped lips. It's has a pleasant taste and doesn't dry out the skin long term like some petroleum based products can (carmex am looking at you ;)) Which isn't surprising when you look at the ingredients, Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter. And it's cheap too..double result...
This paved the way. The ORIGINAL primer Laura Mercier now has a wide range of primer. A great base for make-up and one of the best in our opinion.
6.Smashbox Photofinish Primer Colour Corrector (Green) (£25)
This is also the time of year our artist see alot of red cheeks and noses. When there is a chill in the air or if you naturally have red patches on your skin then this is the product for you. It's primes the skin like a normal primer but the ingenious green shade of the primer tones down the red in the skin..(not to bore you with lot's of make-up techniques ...green is the opposite colour to red on the colour wheel and opposite colours cancel each other out and make the skin neutral, so when you put green primer on it cancels much of the red tones in the skin)
